Screens close the opening. Awnings shade overhead.

Already have a roof? Start with a motorized screen. Need shade beyond the roofline? Start with a retractable awning. Some spaces use both.

Motorized screens enclosing a freestanding pergola beside a swimming pool

Use case 01

Create a room without permanently closing it.

Lower guided screens when the sun, insects, or privacy call for them. Raise the screens when you want the pool, lawn, and view to feel completely open again.

Recommended system

Motorized screen

What this gives you

  • Control the comfort

Choose insect, solar, or privacy fabric for the way the room is used.

  • Keep the opening clean

Use traditional tracks or coordinate recessed tracks into the build.

  • Move one—or all

Operate screens individually or group multiple openings together.

Motorized insect screen lowered across a residential golf cart garage opening

Use case 02

Work with the garage open and the bugs outside.

A guided insect screen turns a garage, hobby bay, or golf-cart space into a ventilated work area while preserving the full opening when the screen is raised.

Recommended system

Motorized insect screen

What this gives you

  • Let the air move

Tight-weave insect mesh keeps the bay ventilated without inviting bugs in.

  • Seal the perimeter

Retrofit tracks and a fitted bottom bar close the moving edges.

  • Protect the path

Optional obstacle detection adds another layer of operating awareness.

Retractable striped awning extended over a residential outdoor kitchen and patio

Use case 03

Create a roof only when you want one.

A retractable awning extends shade beyond the house over a pool deck, outdoor kitchen, or seating area, then returns toward the wall when you want open sky.

Recommended system

Retractable awning

What this gives you

  • Reach the seating area

Choose an 8, 10, or 12 foot projection to put shade where people sit.

  • Protect it when closed

Open, semi-, or full-cassette housing changes retracted protection.

  • Set shade in seconds

Use a remote, wall control, or compatible smart-home package.

Retractable awning with a front drop screen shading a poolside seating area

Use case 04

Shade overhead first. Then soften the open edge.

A semi-cassette awning can pair overhead coverage with an optional front drop screen, helping with low-angle glare at the exposed edge of the room.

Recommended system

Semi-cassette awning + front drop

What this gives you

  • Block low-angle glare

An optional front drop extends up to 54 inches at the exposed edge.

  • Aim the shade

Adjustable pitch helps tune coverage to the sun and the opening.

  • Use it after sunset

Integrated dimmable arm lighting illuminates the seating area below.

Motorized solar screens enclosing an outdoor restaurant dining area

Use case 05

Make the exterior seating plan more adaptable.

Use solar mesh for bright exposures, clear vinyl for a more enclosed commercial edge, or an awning where the space needs overhead shade beyond the building.

Recommended system

Commercial screen or awning

What this gives you

  • Adapt to the exposure

Use solar mesh for glare or clear vinyl for a more enclosed edge.

  • Hold the moving edge

A self-adjusting commercial track helps manage larger active openings.

  • Control the zone together

Group multiple motors so staff can reset an exterior area efficiently.

Recessed motorized screens integrated into a finished porch opening

Use case 06

Hide the system before the walls close.

Coordinate recessed housings, tracks, blocking, power, drainage, finish color, and control locations while the builder can still make the opening accept them cleanly.

Recommended system

Recessed motorized screen

What this gives you

  • Conceal the hardware

Plan recessed housings and tracks before the walls and soffits close.

  • Put power in the right place

Coordinate motor, power, and control locations with the electrical plan.

  • Finish it with the wall

Align color, drainage, fascia, and stucco details before installation.

We document the opening, mounting condition, track, fabric, finish, motor, control, sensor, and electrical requirements.

  3. 03

    Order the custom build

ProFloors supplies the approved specification to SunPro so the system is built for this opening, not pulled from a standard shelf.

  4. 04

For remodels and new builds, we align mounting, blocking, power, recesses, stucco, drainage, and finish responsibilities before installation.

  5. 05

    Install and program

The local team mounts the system, sets travel and limits, pairs controls, confirms operation, and tests the selected accessories.

Watch the opening change.

The movement is the product. See a screen disappear upward and an awning create shade beyond the wall.

The boundary disappears when the screen rises.

See how a fitted screen lowers into the opening, stays guided at the sides, and returns to a clear view.

A screen is configured for the opening, not pulled from a shelf.

Use, track, fabric, wind exposure, enclosure goal, and construction stage determine the right system. Explore the six configurations SunPro makes possible.

Florida operation is part of the specification.

Exposure, controls, sensing, manual operation, and the owner's care routine are planned together before the system is ordered.

A sensor supports good operation. It does not replace it.

Retract for weather.

An awning is adjustable shade, not a rain roof or storm shelter. Retract it during high wind and inclement weather, and do not leave it extended unattended.

Let sensors assist.

Optional wind sensing and automation can help the system respond, but SunPro care guidance says sensing is not foolproof. Manual override remains part of the operating plan.

Specify the right screen.

Standard insect, solar, and privacy screens are not hurricane protection. Wind-abatement and severe-weather openings require a distinct engineered configuration.

Comfort that stays useful after sunset.

Controls and lighting are selected with the system, then confirmed for the exact motor and configuration before order.

Questions before we measure.

Straight answers about fit, controls, weather, and who these systems are for.

What does it mean that ProFloors is an authorized SunPro dealer?

ProFloors is the local sales and project partner for the SunPro line in Collier County. We evaluate the site, specify and supply the custom system, coordinate installation and controls, explain operation and care, and remain the local contact for service and manufacturer warranty coordination.

Should I choose a motorized screen or a retractable awning?

Choose a screen when you already have a covered opening and want a controllable vertical boundary. Choose an awning when the space needs overhead shade beyond the roofline. Some projects use both.

Can a motorized screen be hidden in new construction?

Yes. Recessed screen configurations can integrate the housing and tracks into the opening when they are coordinated early with the builder, stucco team, and electrical plan.

Do exterior screens help with insects and privacy?

They can. The result depends on the screen configuration, fabric, openness, edge conditions, and intended use. We select those together after seeing the opening.

Are retractable awnings meant to stay open during storms?

No. Retractable awnings are adjustable shade systems, not storm shelters or rain roofs. SunPro care guidance says to retract them during high wind and inclement weather and not leave them unattended while extended. Optional wind sensing can assist, but it is not foolproof.

Can the systems connect to home automation?

Compatible control packages can include hand-held, wall, and smart-home operation. We confirm the motor, controls, gateway, and platform compatibility before order.

Do you work with restaurants, hotels, builders, and designers?

Yes. ProFloors plans residential and commercial exterior shade projects, including early construction coordination and site-specific installation scopes.

What warranty coverage does SunPro provide?

Current manufacturer materials list 5-year coverage for open-roll awnings; 10-year coverage for semi- and full-cassette awnings; and, for motorized screens, lifetime hardware coverage, up to 15 years on fabric or mesh depending on brand, and 5 years on motors and controls. The written warranty for the selected product governs the final coverage.

Who do I call after installation?

Call ProFloors. We remain the local point of contact for operation questions, service assessment, control or limit issues, care guidance, and manufacturer warranty coordination.

Start with the opening. We will handle the shade.

Send a photo or book a site visit. We will help decide whether the space needs a screen, an awning, or both.
